Meet Dr. Tsamtsouris
Dr. Cynthia Tsamtsouris (pronounced “Sam-Suris”) finds great satisfaction knowing that every day she is impacting the lives of her patients. Her passion for dentistry and patient care grew out of her upbringing in a household of doctors – her father an anesthesiologist and mother a pediatric dentist. Growing up in Newton, Massachusetts, among medical professionals, Cynthia developed a keen interest in healthcare in general and surgery in particular. After consideration, she felt that a hospital environment would not provide as intimate a setting as the dental office, where strong personal relationships with patients can be formed.
Cynthia pursued her interests in health care studying at Tufts University, where she completed her pre-dental studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (cum laude, 1987). She then pursued her dental studies, graduating with her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1991 from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
Although Cynthia knew then that she wanted to pursue Periodontics, she also wanted to gain valuable insight into all aspects of dentistry and patient care, and opted to practice General Dentistry for one year. Due to her strong academic standing and dental experience, she was accepted to pursue a 2 year post-graduate degree program at Tufts University, where she earned a Certificate in Periodontics in 1994.
Cynthia’s first Periodontics practice was in the nearby towns of Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts, where she was associated with another dentist for five years. Due to the needs of her husband’s work, she then relocated to the Seattle, Washington area, where she was both a clinical instructor at the University of Washington’s School of Dentistry as well as a private practitioner of Periodontics within a specialty practice.
Upon her family’s return to the Boston area in 2002, Cynthia decided to open her own specialty practice in Bedford, Massachusetts, where she focuses on providing high quality and affordable periodontal and dental implant care. Cynthia’s practice is grounded in the belief that periodontal disease greatly impacts one’s overall health, and strives to address the unique needs of each of her patients.
Dr. Tsamtsouris is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the Massachusetts Periodontal Society.
Voted by her peers as a Boston Magazine "Top Dentist" for 2017 - 2022, Dr. Tsamtsouris also leads a Spear Study Club for local dentists in her community.Cynthia is fluent in Greek and a first generation American. She maintains a healthy lifestyle and believes in proper nutrition and exercise . . . along with good chocolate! Cynthia enjoys running, biking, skiing and travel. Her greatest passion outside the office is her family, which includes her husband Tom and their three sons, Alex, Nick and Zack, as well as her only female companion Zoe, a mini Australian Labradoodle.
